Charles J. Gunther

ATTORNEY

Charles “Chuck” Gunther is an attorney who specializes in family law. Charles is admitted to practice law in Alaska and Oregon.

With nearly 30 years of experience, Charles handles a wide range of cases pertaining to family law, including, but not limited to divorce, child custody and visitation disputes, property division, domestic partnerships, domestic violence, paternity and child support.

Charles began his legal career at the Anchorage District Attorneys’ office and later served as an associate attorney in law firms where he quickly honed his skill and expertise in divorce and family law. Charles eventually formed and managed his own family law firm in Anchorage for over 20 years where he built a reputation as one of the most experienced and effective family law attorneys in Alaska. 

After heeding the call for public service, Charles left private practice to serve as the Deputy Municipal Attorney for the city of Anchorage where he represented all Municipal departments on a wide variety of legal matters. Although he enjoyed his time with the city, Charles missed his family law clients so he decided to return to private practice and joined Chicklo Law Group.

Charles prides himself in being professional, pragmatic, calm and caring. He has tried hundreds of family law cases all over Alaska and has settled many more.

Well-respected among his clients and peers for his extensive experience and knowledge in the field of family law, Charles is a skilled negotiator and litigator who makes sure to tailor his legal services per the clients’ best interests, needs and goals. 

Charles was raised in Anchorage and has been married almost 30 years. He is the proud father two high school teenagers, and two dogs.

When he is not working, Charles enjoys spending time with his family and friends, spending time outdoors, and traveling.

Charles also believes in the value of community service and he is a member of the Anchorage East Rotary Club, part of Rotary International, a service club organization with more than 1.2 million members in 33,000 clubs worldwide. Rotary club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the motto Service Above Self.
