Jonathan is a lifelong Alaskan who was born in Anchorage and grew up in Big Lake.

After obtaining his bachelor’s degree from UAA in 2013, Jonathan commissioned in the United States Marine Corps as a military police officer. He continues to serve in the Marine Corps Reserve as a Major (O-4).  In 2020 Jonathan received his law degree from the University of California, Irvine School of Law.

Jonathan’s work experience as a lawyer includes a year in private practice and two years with the District Attorney’s Office in Anchorage prosecuting domestic violence cases.  Following his time as an assistant district attorney, Jonathan served as a magistrate judge for three years. As a magistrate judge Jonathan presided over domestic violence and stalking protective order proceedings, juvenile cases, mental commitment hearings, probate and estate cases, and custody and divorce proceedings on assignment from the Superior Court.

Jonathan is passionate about helping his fellow Alaskans work through difficult situations. He is a keen problem-solver who pulls upon broad experience as an advocate, a judge, and a leader.  He strives to take a wholistic and pragmatic approach to meeting his client’s legal needs. An effective communicator, Jonathan is comfortable and highly effective in both court proceedings and alternative dispute resolution.

In his free time, Jonathan enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, Amberly, and their wildly adventurous daughters.
